Book Meme

Reading Memories

20 Years Ago: (age 4 )

I don't remember what books I was reading at this age :-)

10 Years Ago: (age 14)
I don't think I remember what I was reading at this age, either. Oh, dear. I'm not doing well with this meme. I think 14 is when I was introduced to Jane Austen, maybe. Well, maybe a little earlier than 14. But that started off an addiction to history and Georgian England that has not left me!

5 Years Ago: (age 19)
Um, at nineteen I was a freshman or sophomore in college, so... yeah, I don't remember. I think I probably started reading more Indian authors at this time, though.

3 Years ago: (age 21)
I was in London for my 21st birthday, and I know I read loads of books while I was there. Probably the one I remember most is The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time. I enjoyed that one a lot.

Last Year: (age 23)
This I remember :-) The Book Thief, by Markus Zusak. By far the best book I read all year, and one of the best books I read, ever.

This Month: (age 24)
Ok, I've only read one book this month, so that's easy! The Fatal Shore, by Robert Hughes. Quite good, but a little long-winded.

Booking some more

3 Favorite Reading Locations:
On the sofa
In the summer, I like to sit on a lounge chair and read outside
I don't think I have a third place. Recently, I've done a lot of reading in airports, though!

3 Reading habits:
Hmm- I have now started to use a bookmark all the time- before, I was more willing to bend pages.

I will type up passages from books that strike me and put them into LibraryThing so that I can have them tracked and remember the book in that way.

I HAVE to pick the next book I'll read as soon as I finish one. Even if I don't stick with the one I choose... I just need to know what I'll be reading next. No matter what time it is.

3 Things that distract me:
Oh, I'm pretty easily distracted by everything. Probably e-mails from friends, TV, and hunger pangs

3 Characters I’d love to be:
Oh, that's a fun question! How to answer it, though?

Milo, from The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster

Sarah Thane, from The Talisman Ring by Georgette Heyer

Susan, from Terry Pratchett's Discworld series

3 Three Characters I despise:
Oh, quite easy ;-)
Katelina, from Dorothy Dunnett's The House of Niccolo series

She stands for all stupid females in literature for me. All those kinds of women annoy me. See my post on this here.

3 Favorite Book Beverages:
White wine
Iced Tea
Don't really have a third one

3 Favorite bookmarks:
Three? I only have one that I have any "feelings" for, really. It's made of some sort of metal and is shaped like a dolphin. It's pretty!

3 Dead Writers I’d love to meet:
Georgette Heyer
Dorothy Dunnett
Jane Austen

3 Alive Writers I’d love to meet:
Bill Bryson
Terry Pratchett
Markus Zusak

Now it's your turn!
