Teddy Rose at So Many Precious Books, So Little Time tagged me for another meme! Since I haven't made much progress in the book I've been reading lately, I might as well just keep going on the memes :-)
The rules of this particular meme are:
1. Pick up the nearest book (of at least 123 pages)
2. Open the book to page 123
3. Find the fifth sentence
4. Post the next three sentences
5. Tag five people
Well, that seems pretty simple, especially as I have the book I'm reading (well, sort of) right here in front of me! So here, we go:
The book is Beneath the Vaulted Hills: Book One of the River Into Darkness, by Sean Russell.
An ancient forest spread its branches over most of the Caledon Hills and here one could find species of oak, beech, and walnut that were not common to any other area of Farrland. A particularly fragrant pine, called the Camden Pine, grew on the north sides of hills at higher altitudes, and the rose family had spread a few of its species- from bitter apples and hawthorns to flowering rosebushes - across the hillsides and valleys.
Long known for the abundance of game, the hunting lodges of the aristocracy were scattered among the hills, and here and there a fertile valley provided a patch of farmland. Deep, clear lakes became the destination of travelers drawn to the lonely beauty, and in particularly picturesque locations towns catering to such travelers sprang up.
A very long three sentences, isn't it?! Maybe that's why I'm taking so long to read this book :-)
And now, five blogs to tag!
Musings of a Bookish Kitty
Margo's Entertainment Shelf
Between the Covers
the hidden side of a leaf
Slaves of Golconda
